This week a study was released from LAHSA (Los Angeless Homeless Service Authority)claiming that we have approximately 73,000 homeless and 40,000 of which are sleeping in the streets. Surprisingly, these numbers are lower than 2 years ago, when they estimated 88,000 homeless in Los Angeles. They broke down the large number as follows: 10,000 are minors 24,500 have mental illness 8500 are homeless vets 7200 are domestic violence victims In a city where the resources and extreme wealth are in abundance, I can not understand how we continue to be the city with the worst homeless crisis. I know that milder climate cities attract more homeless people and the organizations that help and provide support to the homeless know this as well. So why have we not been able to pull our city off the top of the list in the ranking? If you have a comment, or information regarding this, please post it here.
